This Friday — Virtual Happy Hour: Crosswalks History AND Freeway History

Thanks to Ken Avidor for the illustration.

We’re having another Zoom Happy Hour this Friday, from 5pm to 7pm.

All will be revealed.

Our featured guest this week will be Board Member Hannah Pritchard, who is going to share her expertise in traffic engineering by giving a short presentation on how jaywalking was invented, how crosswalks were created and a less-than-stellar study from the 1970s that coined the term that’s in common use today.

Mark your calendar and look forward to that! Thanks to Glen Johnson for hosting.

You can log on here:

“See” you then!

UPDATE: We’ve added another guest speaker! Noted freeway history guru and author of the nation’s best website chronicling US freeway history, Adam Froehlig, is also going to share a presentation of some of his freeway history trove at 7pm. Don’t miss it. is a non-profit and is volunteer run. We rely on your support to keep the servers running. If you value what you read, please consider becoming a member.

This should be fascinating! Love the tragic art of the poster.

When does Hannah’s presentation start? Overlapping online events around the same time so trying to juggle them here…
