Learn more about the planned cooperative tiny home village near Payne & Phalen (627 Bush Ave). Hear about the vision for this intentional community from developer Loren Schirber.
The East Yard Tiny Home Cooperative will be located on the East side of St. Paul at Bush and Payne Ave. It will be located in an urban area on a 3 acre piece of land. The area is near rail road tracks and industrial commercial properties and The East Yard will have a gritty industrial feel. It will contain 35 – 40 permanent on the grid tiny homes that are between 280sf – 530sf with affordable cooperative ownership opportunities. The East Yard will also contain a community center, garages, shared vehicles, twelve self-storage units, and shared resources such as community gardens, chicken coops, and bee hives.
At the heart of this intentional community will be the community center. This will be a space where people can gather. There will be a large open floor plan centered on the kitchen where parties can be hosted and events can be held. Shared laundry facilities will also be available. The second floor will have 2 bedrooms available for rent for guests and will house the onsite property manager. The developers hope to acquire and move the historic Francis M. Williams House from across the street at 656 Bush Ave. An extensive historic remodel will be undertaken to add a front porch and remodel the interior.
