Gentrification. For some it represents the worst side of urban real estate and housing markets where poor residents and people of color fall victim to rising housing costs and displacement. But where some see gentrification, others see much-needed neighborhood upgrading and revitalization of areas in desperate need of more investment. For the past two years CURA staff and researchers have been engaging in research on gentrification in Minneapolis and Saint Paul. Using qualitative and quantitative methods we have worked to determine what kind of neighborhood change is happening, examining census and housing market data, and the perceptions of people living and working in communities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul.
Join us for a CURA Housing Forum on February 23 where we’ll share results from both our quantitative and qualitative research.
