The Route from Affordable Housing to Home: Effective Practices to Get Results

October 13, 2016 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

Every community needs a full range of housing choices, including housing that is affordable to young families, seniors and those who are in jobs essential to our community. Housing is also a critical economic development strategy. More and more employers are having difficulty attracting employees due to a lack of access to quality housing.

The workshop will include a presentation focused on the five key elements that are critical in laying the groundwork for creating a strong stronger community including technical resources to help you achieve your community housing goals. Also, hear from a panel of experts in the field who will talk first-hand about how they have overcome the specific challenges of getting housing projects approved and why it is increasingly important for cities to be better prepared to accommodate future housing needs based upon market shifts and demographic changes.

Presentation & Panel Facilitator:

Brad Tabke, former Mayor of the City of Shakopee

Panelists include:

Anne Mavity, Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative & Councilmember City of St. Louis Park
Nawal Noor, Noor Development Group
Julie Frick, Executive Director Carver County CDA
