Upper Harbor Terminal (Mpls) Tour, Workshop, & Dinner
August 21, 2017 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Join us on a tour and community workshop to inform a plan for the Upper Harbor Terminal: a site along the Mississippi River in North Minneapolis.
The site is now industrial, but the City and Park Board, along with a development team that includes First Avenue Productions, THOR Development and United Properties, is creating a redevelopment plan that includes a new park and private redevelopment.
We need your voice to help inform the plan.
Come to whichever date/location that works for you, and bring friends and family. Join us for a bus tour of the Upper Harbor Terminal site, and stay for a community workshop with conversation, activities and dinner.
Learn about the planning process, background, what people have said so far, and talk with neighbors about your ideas. Representatives from the City/Park Board and Development Team will also be on hand to answer your questions.
The Upper Harbor Terminal is a 48+ acre site along the Mississippi River. In the coming months, the City, Park Board and Development team will be working to create a master plan for redeveloping the Upper Harbor Terminal Site into a place that has a new public park and private development with a variety of input.
At JXTA, youth apprentices have been studying this site for almost two years. The Upper Harbor Terminal is important because of its unique location and the opportunities that can grow from it. Currently, North Minneapolis has no river hotspots where locals can go for events, fun, and connection to the river. This space can foster this and create a hub of economic and cultural growth.
We feel it is important for Northsiders to be a part of the process: to say what we think is important and what we want to see in this new development. We invite you to talk with us at JXTA about your thoughts and vision.
