URBANISM & COMMUNITY IMPACT
Gia Biagi, Principal, Studio Gang
Presented in partnership with the Walker Art Center
This lecture features Gia Biagi, principal of urbanism and civic impact at Studio Gang Architecture in Chicago, who is widely regarded as a thought leader on the intersection of public space and social connection. At Studio Gang, she leads design teams, coordinates master plans, facilitates stakeholder engagement, and directs the urban approach for projects such as: Polis Station that proposes how to use design to improve relationships between police and the communities they serve; Civic Commons that reimagines how investments in public assets can be more relevant and equitable in cities; Edge Effect that conceptualizes Milwaukee’s port district as an estuarine condition that balances commercial, residential, and recreation uses; and Memphis Riverfront that proposes a vision for more than five miles of parks and trails along the Mississippi River.
