Following up on our earlier post, we are inaugurating our call for nominations for the Best of 2013. We have 20 categories. We will roll out 2 per day for the next two weeks. Come voting time, only the entries with nominations will be on the ballot. The winners will be revealed in December.
Category 1: Best Minnesota County Seat.
Minnesota has eighty-seven counties.
Each county has a seat of government.
Some of those are better than others.
Which do you most admire in wonderment?
Use the comments to argue in favor of a nominee for the category.
Grand Marais is a marvel
New Ulm.
I nominate Bemidji, county seat of Beltrami County. We’re Lumberjack Chic. Know how to enjoy our spectacular natural resources and recreation opportunities and sophisticated too.
Mankato, Blue Earth County.

I second New Ulm in Brown County. I would go down there for work and not sure of what your criteria is but it has great downtown district mixed with government and residential.
Anything besides the Big Concrete “H”.
Grant County, of course! Whether its in Elbow Lake or Herman is another question.
