It’s that time of year again. The sun in shining (most days), the lakes are shimmering, and Streets.mn is hosting our annual picnic!
Mark your calendars: Saturday, July 13, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Como Park in beautiful St. Paul. We will be in the big picnic shelter near the west entrance to the park (off Hamline Avenue). Look for our orange cone! Bring your friends and family; friendly, leashed pets are welcome, too.
As usual, Streets.mn will be providing grilled entrées, buns and condiments, as well as plates/utensils and some canned beverages.
This event is potluck-style for sides and desserts, so bring something to share. Don’t forget to write your name on your container and list some ingredients for folks who might have allergies or dietary restrictions.
Learn more about everything Streets.mn has been doing this year and get excited about our future. Your favorite board members, editors, volunteers, podcast team, contributors and readers will be there! We will have an afternoon of fun, food, games and getting to know new faces.
As with all of our events, we depend on volunteers to make things happen. If you are interested in helping with the picnic (and future events), email us at [email protected]. Volunteer for set-up and clean up, running games, greeting or even grill master.
Getting There
Route 3A: Runs every 30 minutes (every hour after 7 p.m.) between downtown Minneapolis and downtown St. Paul. The 3A is the most convenient; the 3B and 3S are over a half-mile away at their closest point. Closest stop is Como Avenue and Beulah Lane, just east of Hamline Avenue.
Route 83: Runs every 30 minutes along/near Lexington Avenue in St. Paul and Roseville. This connects to the Green Line at the Lexington Avenue station. Last bus southbound is just after 6:30 p.m.; the last bus northbound leaves Lexington/University at 7 p.m. and Como Park shortly thereafter.
A Line: This BRT line runs along Snelling Avenue, turning west at Ford Parkway, between Rosedale to the north and the 46th Street station in Minneapolis to the south. Go multimodal and put your bike on the bus; then exit at Como Avenue and cycle east toward the Hamline Avenue entrance to Como Park.
