Hello, Streets.mn readers! We need you to help support our organization.
We’re always looking for new volunteers and contributors, but this time of year we’re kicking off board recruitment for the 2025-2026 term!
- Do you like thinking about our urban (and suburban and rural) streets and land use?
- Do you want to acquire nonprofit board experience and build your résumé?
- Are you someone who can help us make thoughtful decisions about how an organization is run?
- Could you help us recruit and support new contributors?
Then this is the place for you!
Streets.mn is now in its second decade, and we’re working toward big goals through our volunteer board of directors. We continue to strive toward better racial equity in our board, in the stories we publish and the podcast we air, as well as among our group of contributors. We cultivate new voices and have a part-time managing editor to make sure we have compelling content five-plus days a week. We also host events to socialize and provide space to meet other like-minded people.
With more capacity, we can do even more!
All interested applicants are invited to apply here by Tuesday, November 5. Special consideration will be given to applicants who can contribute to the Streets.mn board in the following ways:
- Fundraising
- Engagement: social media and events
- Volunteer management
- Outreach experience
- Editorial experience
- Journalism experience
- WordPress developer
- Advertising
- Board administration: secretary, treasurer.
If you have any questions, please email us at [email protected].
Attend an Upcoming Event

If you’re intrigued by the prospect of joining the board, volunteering on a committee, or contributing as a member of the editorial or podcast teams, we have two events this month where you can learn more. Board members will be on hand to answer your questions and talk about their experiences on the board.
Happy Hour (Minneapolis): Wednesday, October 16, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Hosted at the Venn Brewing patio. Accessible by the 46th Street Station of the Blue Line and A Line as well as Metro Transit routes 9 and 74. Bike parking is near the patio, and parking is available in a lot by the building.
Bonfire (St. Paul): Saturday, October 26, 2 to 4 p.m.
Hosted at the Como Park fire pits. Accessible by the 3A and 83 bus routes, with bike connections from the University of Minnesota transitway, Wheelock Parkway and Como Avenue. You can also put your bike on the A Line BRT and cycle east from the Como Avenue stop. Some parking is available in a paid lot. We’ll provide snacks, non-alcoholic beverages and s’mores.
Hope to see you at one or both events. Look for the orange cones!
Update: We updated the time of the bonfire to be 2 to 4 p.m. (instead of 4 to 7 p.m.).
