2026 Board Application Deadline Extended and Additional Event

Hello, Streets.mn readers!

It’s been a busy fall for many of us, so we’re extending our board recruitment for the 2026-2027 term to Sunday, November 23rd and adding an additional chance to talk with current board members!

Meet the Board Event – Saturday, November 15th, 11am-2pm at Midtown Global Market in Minneapolis.

  • Drop-in event, so come whenever you’d like. Look for people with Streets.mn nametags in the central seating area.
  • Bike parking available on the sidewalk. Nearby transit options include the B and D lines. Car parking is in the ramp between 10th and 11th Avenues north of Lake Street.
  • Food and beverage options in the market (alcoholic beverages may be present).

Streets.mn is working toward big goals through our volunteer board. We continue to strive toward better racial equity in our board, content and contributors. We cultivate new voices and have a part-time managing editor to make sure we have compelling content five-plus days a week. We host events to socialize and provide space to meet other like-minded people. And in 2025 we were awarded our first grant (by the Minnesota Historical Society) to support research and writing about the untold stories of highways in suburban and rural cities.

All of these endeavors take dedicated volunteers, including through our Board of Directors and committees.

  • Do you like thinking about our urban (and suburban and rural) streets and land use?
  • Getting nonprofit board experience and building your résumé?
  • Making thoughtful decisions about how an organization is run?
  • Supporting new contributors?

Then this is the place for you!

How to Apply

All interested applicants are invited to apply via the Streets.mn board application by Sunday, November 23rd. Special consideration will be given to applicants who can contribute to the Streets.mn board in the following ways (comprehensive list included in application), but is certainly not required:
