The Streets.mn mission is to foster positive connections and inclusive conversations about better places in Minnesota.
Vision
Uplifting and empowering storytelling about the current realities and an optimistic hope for better placemaking in communities all across Minnesota is key to making those hopes a reality. Streets.mn supports community driven, multimedia storytelling with an emphasis on equity, equality, and inclusivity to create a collective vision of belonging.
Our Values

These values guide their mission to foster inclusive conversations and positive connections about better places in Minnesota, emphasizing a focus on people over vehicles, design for future generations, empowerment of all people, and the creation of joyful and inspiring places.
Streets.mn Code of Conduct for Vendors, Partners & Volunteers
Purpose: Communicate the professional and ethical obligations of partner organizations and volunteers as they pertain to work done in conjunction with Streets.mn.
Streets.mn requires that formal Vendors, Partners & Volunteers shall:
- Act as a representative of Streets.mn by adhering to its mission, vision, values and strategic plan during events, classes, and programs.
- Actively participate and encourage others to help achieve the mission, vision, values and strategic plan of Streets.mn.
- Respect differences of opinion and different life experiences as it pertains to differing opinions on how to achieve the mission, vision, values and strategic plan of Streets.mn.
- Actively seek to engage diverse voices, particularly those who have been traditionally marginalized.
- Communicate with honesty and transparency.
- Honor requests for confidentiality.
- Attend required training for programs, classes, and events: Some events require a more in depth training to effectively and confidently participate in. These may include social ride safety courses, editorial training, contributor workshops, and more. It is important to attend these training sessions and utilize the information and skills shared with you.
- Provide instruction, knowledge, and advice on storytelling, journalistic best practices, in Minnesota based on Streets.mn’s programs, national style-guide design standards or other relevant informed practices.
- Not engage in language based against characteristics based on race, sex, gender, disability, body, or otherwise bigoted words or actions at Streets.mn events, during meetings, or while engaging in Streets.mn programs.
- Not engage in harassment of any kind, sexual or inappropriate behavior, or discriminatory actions such as refusing entry to an event based on someone’s identity.
- Report inappropriate behavior witnessed to the Streets.mn Co-Chairs, Executive Board, and/or Board of Directors.
- Understand that violations of this code of conduct may result in discontinuation of partnership, termination of vendor contract, and/or permanent ban from Streets.mn events and programs.
- Understand that all of our community participants across Minnesota deserve to feel safe at our events, while creating content, and while otherwise participating in Streets.mn programming.
- Understand that Streets.mn will terminate project partnership with any partner (as defined as: individuals or organizations activating as partners of Streets.mn in any official capacity. Contractors, board members, volunteers, or staff of Streets.mn or any organization we are formally working with on formal Streets.mn business) found to be engaging in or having a history of sexual, racial, or other physical or emotional violence.
Streets.mn Code of Conduct for Host Organizations & Sites
Purpose: Communicate the professional and ethical obligations of organization or site hosts where work is done by Streets.mn teammates, partners, and volunteers.
Organizations & Sites hosting Streets.mn classes or activities shall:
- Provide an environment that is safe for all Streets.mn contractors, board members, volunteers, and participants.
- Shall not interfere with Streets.mn’s ability to deliver programing consistent with our Mission, Vision, Values and any parameters of engagement.
- Host sites and organizations shall honor commitments made to Streets.mn.
- Acknowledge the presence of Streets.mn with an organization or at a site is not an endorsement of any policies or practices that conflict with Streets.mn’s Mission, Vision, or Values
Streets.mn Code of Conduct Violation Review Process
Purpose: Create a clear and defensible review process for alleged violations of our mission, vision, and values.
Except when a clear conflict of interest necessitates other action, credible allegations of Code of Conduct violations should be sent to the Streets.mn Executive Committee via email ([email protected]).
The complainant and any alleged violators shall not be included in any decisions or votes throughout the review process. Any others with conflicts of interest are expected to excuse themselves when relevant to ensure impartiality throughout the review process.
Upon receiving a credible allegation, the Exec Committee shall:
- Ensure/verify the safety of all involved, to the best of the ability of the Exec Committee
- Set a time for 2 or more members of the Exec Committee to meet with the involved parties respectively to gain a clear understanding of the facts, documenting them for additional review.
- All records will remain confidential except as there is ‘need to know’ during the process. Documentation will be stored in the Exec Drive.
- The Executive Committee shall form a special committee of at least five members, including Exec Board Members, Board of Directors members, or as necessary, partnering volunteers deemed to be in good standing by the Board of Directors.
- Determine if the facts point to a verifiable violation in a documentable process
- If it is determined that a violation has occurred, determine next steps which may include:
- Removal from position at Streets.mn
- Removal of content from Streets.mn
- Creation of a restitution plan
- Other options as needed
- Presenting to the full Board of Directors, excepting any with a conflict of interest in the decision, for closed meeting discussion and final decision.
- Confidentiality will be maintained to the best of our ability with documents stored within the limited access executive board portion of our file management system.
- Summaries may be shared temporarily with other board members as deemed necessary by the executive board.
