Google Self-Driving Car on City Streets

David Levinson tweeted this interesting video showing the Google self-driving car operating on city streets around people walking and biking. My reaction was as follows:

Bet it gets a lot of horn honking from behind while it waits for bikes, peds, and tracks to clear. I like that.

@mikesonn tweeted this:

or, more likely, lots of drivers blowing around it because “why are you sitting there?!?!”

I am pleased to see the Google car recognizing people and not just cars. What do you think?

    The law about cars driving in bike lanes to prepare for a right turn is the same here as in California. The Google car violated the law by not merging into the bike lane before making a right turn.

    That’s why the car had trouble at that intersection.

    Google fail.
