You know those bikes that have been sitting sad and lonely in your garage all winter? Gather the kiddlings and get out and ride them. It’s Minneapolis Bike Week (in case you need a reason)!

Each day this week there’s a theme. Today MPS celebrates Bike to School Day with free tuneups and bicycle light giveaways at various schools throughout the day. Then, Friday it’s Bike and Ride Day: Stop by one of Metro Transit’s Park-and-Ride locations with your bike and ride into the city for free!

Saturday get discounts at some of your favorite local businesses with Bike to Local Businesses Day and check out block parties happening in East Harriet, Kingfield, Lake Street, Northeast, North Loop and Tangletown. And Finally, Sunday it’s Mother’s Day & Family Bike Day: Backpack a lunch and wheel your way to some of the city’s fantastic gardens, historical sites, beaches, lakes and golf courses or take a Minneapolis Bicycle Coalition ride.

Go ahead, give it a spin. Besides, you look cute in a helmet.
