Call for Proposals: Inaugural Bike + Walk Minnesota Conference DEADLINE EXTENDED

Good news, y’all: For the first time ever, this year the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota is adding an explicit pedestrian focus to its 2018 conference, the appropriately titled Bike + Walk Minnesota Conference (formerly the PedalMN Conference) which will be held April 29 – May 1 in Rochester.

As one of the conference organizers, I’m writing today because we value the immense base of knowledge, humor, and civic critique the Streets.MN community is known for, and we think that you (yes, you) should become a presenter.

Presenting at the conference gets you a discount on registration, and gives you an opportunity to shape the conversations we’re having about bike and pedestrian work in Minnesota.

Our success hinges on a diverse range of perspectives coming together to share big ideas and the details on how to implement them. So whether your background comes from parks and recreation, research, the business community, grant funding, public health, tourism, non-motorized transportation, elected office (state and local), or advocacy, we want you at the table.

You’ll join professionals and advocates from across Minnesota in a multidisciplinary conversation about the intersection of active transportation, community development, inequities, and advocacy. Together, let’s discuss how communities are creating better public spaces for all users, let’s explore the connections between biking and walking, and let’s address the open-ended question of what comes next for transportation and recreation options here in the North Star State.

Proposals must be submitted by Thursday, January 18, 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, 11:59 p.m. Submit yours now.
