It’s not Monday, but in honor of July 4th, we bring you Google‘s look at uniquely searched BBQ sauces, by state:

BBQ Trends By State
As you can see, Minnesota’s unique search trend is Korean BBQ. Wisconsin and our Dakotan neighbors want homemade sauce. And Iowa? Sugar free. (All righty then, although part of the point of barbecue sauce is the carmelization, and that requires sugar unless one is on a restricted diet. But I went to school in Iowa and have attended the Iowa State Fair, and trust me, the state as a whole is not on a restricted diet. It’s a percentage.) Of course, Massachusetts wants “calorie free” BBQ, and… no.
As a reminder, everyone is welcome to bring barbecue, beans, or diet-friendly dishes to the streets.mn picnic on July 13. We’re looking forward to seeing you!
question – how many fistfights has this graphic caused?
Iowa state fair comment is good.
Butter cow.
I’m a little surprised with South Carolina…they’ve always been mustard-based as I understand it from natives.
And it’s mainly eastern North Carolina that’s vinegar. Western North Carolina is ketchup-based.
