Katie Jones is an engineer, a community builder, and a climate advocate. A Lowry Hill East (Wedge) resident serves on the Minneapolis' Capital Long Range Improvement Committee and recently served on the Governor’s Sustainable Transportation Advisory Committee. Her day job is in city energy efficiency policy, and she is currently building the Uptown Strawhouse behind her triplex (uptownstrawhouse.weebly.com).

Who Controls Minneapolis Streets?

The City of Minneapolis controls around 22 percent of land as part of the public right of way. This includes the sidewalks, bikeways, transitways and roadways. For simplicity’s sake, let’s call this area “streets.” It is space that we all use to move around for leisure or for purpose, to reach our jobs, schools, and entertainment. […]
